Wonderful commentary, I resonate with that. And a long, honest response is the way to go. It’s so hard to not write a manifesto. But in the words of Sonny in A Bronx Tale, “Nobody cares kid… nobody cares!” The first book that made me really want to write fiction was “The Sun Also Rises”. It was powerful, and sloppy, and personal. Something was so wonderfully flawed about it. We connect in all the ways we put an effort to. Even making the connections real and honest on Medium, can make that specific digital experience authentic too. The internet should be a better reflection of people, but the patterns we formed happened too fast, before it could be studied and stopped. So many people became sad and self-obsessed. And the connectivity idea behind the internet was drowned in commodity — almost completely unregulated. So here we are trying to make sense of it. The way I see it, we are not the products. These are tools. We are writing.
