Stars stream through particle prisms
Wavering whispers of a greater glow
Morsels of memory from darker days
Creating closeness across linear lines

Zena would call me close to midnight
When her day was just beginning
If I could get there in thirty minutes
Then maybe she would wait for me

Her aura was one of constant mystery
I was pulled in by her magnetic force
Moving from one location to the next
In a game that was about keeping up

Scores of men would eye me jealously
But even they knew I meant very little
She knew how to flirt with each one
Leaving them stunned, wanting more

Through dark pool halls and night clubs
She was served complimentary drinks
Gliding past each bar with a half smile
Leaving a shadow of magic behind…

You asked for a recount. So here it is:

Recount the disease you waited to act on
Recount the millions of people you let die
Recount the lessons you refused to learn
Recount the way COVID is still spreading

Recount each day you enabled pollution
Recount each climate effort you denied
Recount each disaster you didn’t relieve
Recount each victim who can’t recover

Recount the immigrants you targeted
Recount the real families you separated
Recount the trauma those kids live with
Recount the wall you made out of fear

Recount each woman you violated
Recount each woman you abused
Recount each woman who spoke out
Recount each woman who still…

Thanks to your stories and engagement, Chance Encounters recently surpassed 100 followers. Although that may not seem like a big number, it was for us. As many other Medium publications can attest, the first 100 are always the hardest. We remain committed to our personal approach and are seeing our writing community grow in a real and genuine way.

We’ve been seeing more diverse work being submitted and are learning a lot more about our writers. Attila and I have been really inspired by it all, and wanted to share a few things with you:

Parallels

This is where we group themes and ideas to show the synchronicity forming between your stories over time. It also helps reveal connections you may have missed. Take a look here or click the photo below. …
